Roanoke Park Kitchen & Sun Porch Remodel

July 12th, 2017 by Curator

Kitchen with Pantry Addition

The kitchen was gutted back to the framing. We enlarged the entrance to the kitchen off the main entry hall. This opened up the main floor of the house creating views to the living room and center stairwell.

We removed the wall between the kitchen and a small study, combining two spaces. This opened the room to south facing light. A bar and pantry area was added with custom built-in cabinetry that reflects the era of the house.

In the existing kitchen, we custom designed all new cabinetry. New cabinetry included two custom pantries featuring large vintage Chinese Carved Wooden Doors, open upper cabinets and an island with a cherry butcher block top. One of the large pantries includes generous pull-out shelves for storage and the other is shallow for a food pantry. The custom cabinets were hand painted.

The counter-tops are Calcutta Sienna and Absolute Black Honed with a handmade tile in a herring bone pattern was selected for the stove back-splash.

Sun Porch

The sun porch was completely repainted. The original fir floor which was recovered and painted, after removing a stone tile floor installed by a previous owner.

The sun porch sofa was reupholstered in Lee Jofa tapestry and the vintage chaise was recovered in Manuel Canovas fabric. The sofa pillows are made from a vintage blanket. The chaise pillow features hand screened fabric and stitching.

Leschi Craftsman Kitchen Remodel

May 2nd, 2013 by Mary

We preformed a complete kitchen remodel inside a 1905 Leschi craftsmen home. This included all new plumbing, electrical, cabinetry and counters. New windows, doors and mill-work were selected.

The existing kitchen footprint was expanded by 3 ft by borrowing from the adjacent covered porch. New fir was feathered in to match the original fir flooring. The original doorway, separating the kitchen and corridor, was removed to integrate the two spaces.

The cabinets are custom designed by Mary Hansen Design and built by KCN cabinetry. They were made in stained mahogany and painted to reflect the era of the house.

The vintage sconces and chandelier were rewired by Landbridge Lighting. The lamps were custom designed by Mary Hansen.

The custom built-in corner bench includes deep drawers built into the base for extra storage. The cushions are quilted in indoor-outdoor Holly Hunt fabric and the historical print pillow fabric is from Hazleton House. They were designed by Mary Hansen and sewn by Kathleen Mullaney.
